Theater Criticism: the record of one’s own soul
Oct 14 - Nov 18 | Tues, 6-7pm at the Jungle Theater
$75 for course
Learn about theater criticism and reviewing the arts with Jungle’s brand-new class. Taught by the Jungle’s very own Alison Ruth, this class will use the principles of dramaturgy to give you a way into thinking about theatrical performance and writing insightful criticism.
This 5-week course will meet every Tuesday in the Jungle Theater rehearsal room. Through in-class analysis of their own reviews of and other kinds of writing about professional theater and dance productions, students will come to learn what makes a good critic of the performing arts.
Discover the role of theater reviews, analyze performances, and write criticism - all while developing your artistic taste and deepening your understanding of theater. No matter where you are in your journey with theater - a brand-new audience member or a seasoned theater-goer - this class will give you an opportunity to see, think, write, and talk about your artistic impressions.
