2025/26 Season

The Jungle Theater is excited to announce our 2025/26 Season! With the return of the critically acclaimed DINNER FOR ONE, a moving co-production, a full lineup of play readings and regional premieres — something good is happening here, and we cannot wait to share!

“Stage directions are powerful. Words never read by the audience, but they impact everything that an audience experiences. They are a direct line from the playwright to the performer — they are full of agency, intention and act as a sort of time capsule. A gift of understanding, rolled up in a clear bottle and tossed into a sea of words.

Change is upon us. But there is a difference between change and transformation. These two words seem similar, but are worlds apart. One is imparts an air of unwillingness while the other evokes an intentional modification. One lacks agency while the other is empowered.

What we choose to share with others is transformational. Celebrate the making, celebrate the heart, the mind, your community — we can’t wait to see you. Something good is happening here.

(Raising her glass.)

— Christina Baldwin, Artistic Director

DINNER FOR ONE

Directed By Christina Baldwin
Co-Created By Christina Baldwin, Sun Mee Chomet, Jim Lichtscheidl
Music Direction by Emilia Mettenbrink

December 6, 2025 - January 4, 2026

Based on an iconic slapstick comedy sketch and New Year’s Eve tradition in Europe for over 60 years, DINNER FOR ONE tells the story of a butler helping his employer celebrate her annual dinner party. Unpredictable mishaps and a little too much wine result in a hilarious evening full of physical comedy, improvisation, music, and human connection.

Audiences can’t get enough of Miss Sophie and James...and Sir Toby, Admiral von Schneider, Mr. Pomeroy, Mr. Winterbottom, and of course, Whiskers. For it’s third season, DINNER FOR ONE will combine some new friends with its hilarious improv to make each performance unique - and as precious as a box of hand-blown glass!

We hope you join us this holiday season for a comedic and heartfelt celebration of love, found family, and live music.

WOLF PLAY

By Hansol Jung
Directed By Addie Gorlin-Han

April 4 - May 3, 2026

An internet chat room connects a family looking to ‘re-home’ their young Korean son to a lesbian couple--where one half is desperate for a child and the other half is fighting for their career. The boy’s original adoptive father was all set to hand him over until he realizes the boy would have no “dad.”

Caught in the middle of this off-the-record adoption gone sideways, the child launches himself into a lone wolf’s journey to finding a pack he can call his own.

Award-winning South Korean playwright Hansol Jung’s WOLF PLAY is a messy, funny, and moving theatrical experience that features puppetry, a wolf, and prickly questions about what family and belonging mean.

“What if I said I am not what you think you see. And you believed me? Does that change anything?”

LETTERS FROM MAX

By Sarah Ruhl
Based on the book by Sarah Ruhl and Max Ritvo
Directed By Christina Baldwin

May 30 - June 28, 2026

Max Ritvo is an exceptional young man: a student at Yale, member of an experimental comedy troupe, and insightful poet. When he applies to Sarah Ruhl’s playwriting workshop, he finds not only a mentor, but a friend.

When Max finds out his childhood cancer has returned, the two begin writing letters to each other. Their correspondence, both humorous and profound, explores questions of creating art, the meaning of work and the strange experience of being human. Based on these real communications, LETTERS FROM MAX is an emotional mosaic of letters, poetry, music and dialogue that showcases theatre’s ability to express the ineffable.

LETTERS FROM MAX is an intimate and poetic stage adaption of Sarah Ruhl (IN THE NEXT ROOM, THE OLDEST BOY) and Max Ritvo’s 2018 book of the same title. Jungle Theater Artistic Director Christina Baldwin directs this profound and hopeful play.

Specialty Nights

Preview Performances

The Jungle Theater is continuing our commitment to providing accessible tickets to our community. For preview performances, our first two rows will be available for patrons at no cost.

Previews are an essential step in the development process. Because it could be the first time the play has been on its feet in front of an audience, the creative team could still be making changes to the script, design elements, or acting choices.

Industry Nights

We are introducing select Monday night performances to make the Jungle Theater and its shows more accessible for fellow theater industry folks as well as the Twin Cities’ robust bar, restaurant, and entertainment industries.

Access Services

It’s important to the Jungle to offer a theatrical experience that can be enjoyed by all audience members and patrons. Each Jungle Theater mainstage production includes Open Captioning, Audio Description, and ASL Interpreted performances throughout the run. Learn more on our Accessibility Services page.

Masked Wednesdays

Committed to the care of our people and audiences, we are continuing to require masks for Wednesday evening performances, helping us all return to theater in a way that we feel safe.

Be a part of the Jungle community

Now is the time to show up and support local live theater

In these eventful and often difficult times, we are reminded of the incredible resilience of the arts and the power of community.

The stage has long served as a refuge of curiosity, creativity, and connection. Theater inspires, connects, uplifts, and transforms...but it needs more than applause—it needs action.

Now more than ever is the time to invest in the voices that stir us, the stories that challenge us, and the stages that bring us together. Let’s lift up the playwrights, performers, technicians, and creators who make the magic happen, night after night.

Because theater doesn’t just entertain—it empowers.

Support theater. Loudly. Proudly. Boldly.
